THE PLANTING CAPTAIN STORY 

Root Nashville is a public-private campaign led by Metro Nashville and the Cumberland River Compact to plant 500,000 trees across Davidson County by 2050. Being a Neighborhood Planting Captain means spreading the word to your neighbors about the opportunity for free trees and encouraging them to sign up. Plant Captain Statistics 

Root Nashville was happy to report that this planting season (mid-October 2022 through the end of March 2023), the Cumberland River Compact is bringing 251 new trees to District 19 to support the citywide Root Nashville campaign. (These 251 trees are part of the 4,800+ trees the Cumberland River Compact is planting this season.)

  • 36 to the historic Lindsley Ave Church of Christ

  • 12 in the Napier neighborhood area, through Neighborhood Planting Captain Jaffee Judah

  • 24 to Claiborne Family Worship, also thanks to Jaffee

  • 11 to the Youth Opportunity Center with Oasis, coming soon

  • 168 to Germantown, led by the Historic Germantown Neighborhood Association through a nonprofit small grant from the Cumberland River Compact and in partnership with the Nashville Tree Conservation Corps
